Our History in Denver Community Life Meet the Fraternas

Rossana Goni
Superior

It was in 1992 that I experienced the call to consecrate my life as a Fraterna. I joined the community in 1994. Since then, my heart continues to grow more and more with love for our Lord Jesus,
our Mother Mary and in my desire for the apostolate.I believe it is possible to change the world I live in. And I thank God everyday

for my vocation.  I made my Perpetual Promises on the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, September 24, 2000; my Fiat to God forever.

How can I repay the LORD for all the good done for me? Psalm 116:12
I was always a person who was searching for something else, for a different way to live. The lives of those around me seemed empty and unfulfilling; I wanted to do something great with my life. I tried many things, and just when I was about to give up all hope I met the Fraternas who had the same yearnings as me. I decided to give my entire life to the Lord Jesus as a Fraterna.

I joined the community in 1997.

One of my favorite passages in the Bible is the Magnificat because it expresses clearly my experience as a Fraterna, especially when our Mother says, "My spirit rejoices in God my Savior ... the Mighty One has done great things for me." Our Lord Jesus has blessed me with this beautiful vocation and my heart overflows with love for Him, and from there I am able to love my sisters and others. I joined the community in 2001.

You have made us for yourself O Lord and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.”  This quote from Saint Augustine is one of my favorites because it embraces in a very complete way my experience before finding my vocation; my heart was restless. I was trying to find fulfillment in many things but friends, sports and jobs did not work. I only found true peace and joy when I knew that the Lord Jesus was calling me to be a Fraterna. I have been living in community for seven years.

“For a long time I was searching for something that was worth giving my life for. I was seeking in so many places but I didn’t find what I was looking for. Then I heard a quote from John Paul II that said: "Only Jesus of Nazareth is capable of satisfying the deepest aspirations of the human heart.” I realized that there is a worthy cause, that there is one Person for whom I could lay down my life.  Now as a Fraterna, I love to give everyday of my life to that cause, to the Lord Jesus himself, who transformed my life and brought me the joy that I was always looking for. I joined the community in 2005.
